Survive and Thrive: Roadmap for New Local Health Officials

Survive and Thrive: Roadmap for New Local Health Officials is a 12-month learning opportunity designed to enhance the skills of new and aspiring local health officials—the top executives at local health departments. The Survive and Thrive program is made possible with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the de Beaumont Foundation.

Cohort 3 Video Testimonials

In three recently released YouTube video testimonials, Fellows from the third cohort of Survive and Thrive share highlights from their experience in the program. Key takeaways discussed include coaching and peer networking, insights gained from self assessments, and the value of the webcasts. These testimonials were filmed at the Cohort 3 Closing Workshop held December 9-12, 2013 in Washington, DC. Participants at the Closing Workshop posted numerous updates and insights to #NACCHOst on Twitter, and pictures from the event are also available on the NACCHO Facebook page

Survive and Thrive in Review

Over 180 new local health leaders have completed the Survive and Thrive program as of December 2013. Survive and Thrive featured training in topics such as organizational learning, leading change, strategic planning, public health law, and performance management. Each cohort included a competitive selection process for both Coaches (more experience LHOs) and Fellows (new or aspiring LHOs).
