The National Profile of Local Health Departments Study Series
NACCHO is pleased to release the 2013 National Profile of Local Health Departments REPORT, FIGURES and DATA. These Profile data were collected from January - March, 2013, with 79% of local health departments responding. The 2013 Profile study provides a comprehensive look at local health department governance, funding, workforce, programs and services, including those related to emergency preparedness, quality improvement, accreditation, access to healthcare services, policymaking, and information technology. More » ![]() Profile-IQ provides users with easy access to 2010 statistics on finance, workforce, and activities from the 2010 National Profile of Local Health Departments study. The system allows for customized queries based on characteristics of local health departments, e.g., size of jurisdiction population. NACCHO has created GIS boundary shapefiles based on standard FIPS codes for jurisdictions served by local health departments (LHDs) in the U.S. These shapefiles reflect the LHDs that met the definition of a local health department at the time of the 2008 and 2010 National Profile of Local Health Departments studies. To download the GIS shapefiles, please complete the submission form. NACCHO's Profile Study is the only source of information collected on a regular basis on important aspects of Local Health Department infrastructure including workforce, funding, and activities. Researchers have recognized the importance of this data source which contributes to the evidence base for local public health practice and policy decisions. NACCHO has created a bibliography of peer reviewed publications and conference presentations using Profile Study data. |
