Issue Summary: Kent County brought its serious message about flu to Kent County residents in a novel and fun way for the holidays.
Description of Issue(s): KCHD wanted to reach out to H1N1 priority targets in a way that was festive and fun, yet kept the serious message about flu prevention.
Actions taken to address the issue(s): The Kent County Health Department (KCHD) participated in the local Santa Claus Parade donning Santa hats and handing out bags chock full of information and flu-prevention goodies such as hand sanitizer and tissues. The vehicle carrying the goodies had banners announcing "Tis the flu season!"
Outcomes that resulted from actions taken: All in all, 15,000 goodie bags were distributed to Kent County resident and KCHD received some very positive feedback about the information and goods contained in the bags. Because of the chosen dissemination method, many of the bags were given to the prime targets: parents of young children.
