Adult Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Vaccination: An Implementation Guide for Local Public Health
In September 2007, CDC distributed $20 million of Section 317 Immunization Program funds through the Adult Hepatitis B Vaccination Initiative (the Initiative) to enable local health departments and partners to provide free adult hepatitis B virus vaccine for adult clients at disproportionate risk for incident hepatitis B infection. In 2009–2010, NACCHO conducted a formative evaluation of the Initiative at 10 select local health departments. Through this evaluation, these local health departments identified the successes, challenges, and lessons learned that others can use to guide their own vaccination efforts for high-risk adult populations. While the project concluded in late 2010, valuable resources are still available to help local health departments with hepatitis B vaccination and general adult vaccination planning.

Viral Hepatitis Highlights from NACCHO Annual 2012
Viral Hepatitis and Your Local Health Department: Identifying Resources, Sharing Strategies, and Discussing Opportunities for your LHD and Community
The 2012 NACCHO Annual Conference showcased a number of sessions on local public health resources and strategies, including "Viral Hepatitis and Your Local Health Department: Identifying Resources, Sharing Strategies, and Discussing Opportunities for your LHD and Community." At this pre-conference session, attendees connected with leadership from the CDC’s Division of Viral Hepatitis and learned new strategies for addressing hepatitis B and C in their communities. Geoff Beckett, PA-C, MPH, Chief of the Prevention Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention’s Division of Viral Hepatitis (DVH), presented on DVH’s current priorities; participants discussed successes, challenges to, and strategies for hepatitis vaccination; and all received training and hands-on-experience with the enhanced version of "NACCHO’s Adult Hepatitis B Virus Vaccination: An Implementation Guide for Local Public Health."
