Public Health Preparedness Exercise Toolkit w/Avian Flu Tabletop

The Harvard School of Public Health Center for Public Health Preparedness has created the Toolkit to Assist Public Health in Conducting Preparedness Exercises.

The purpose of this document is to summarize the federal guidance on preparedness exercises and make this information readily accessible to local public health. The detailed background information and instructions are specifically intended to guide local public health agencies through the process of developing their own successful exercise program. Additionally, the Toolkit provides ready-made exercises that communities can conduct themselves, with local partners.

The first exercise, available with the Toolkit here, addresses Avian Flu and addresses issues of risk communication, isolation and quarantine, mass prophylaxis and dispensing, responder safety, and partner cooperation.

Primary Toolkit:

Medical Countermeasure (MCM) Toolkit

Secondary Toolkits:

EQUIPh Toolkit

Keyword Area:

Public Health Preparedness Exercise Toolkit w/Avia

This tool is out-of-date.  It may have been helpful back in early 2006, but no longer.  Only one of the links in the document works, HSEEP is only briefly mentioned (and happens to be one of the bad links), and we all lived the flu scenario over the past year.

Public Health Exercise Tool

This is a very informative tool for planning an exercise for Public Health Emergency Response.  However, it could use updating to conform to the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program guidelines.
