General Outbreak Assessment Tool (GOAT)


The GOAT is a free, user-friendly, Excel-based incident data collection and management tool for local Public Health agencies.  It enables local Public Health staff to create line lists (including deidentified line lists), generate epi curves, do local surveillance in schools, workplaces, and other sites, determine exposures, track lab results, craft hypothesis-generating questionnaires, produce situation reports and incident chronologies, and sort for multiple types of information.  The GOAT is especially useful for disease outbreak data management and complements Epi Info:  GOAT data can be imported to Epi Info for analysis.  The GOAT has an accompanying user manual and data dictionary.  GOAT training is available from PHRST 6, and the GOAT can be downloaded at
