Lorraine Cameron, MPH, PhD

Environmental Epidemiologist Manager
Michigan Dept, Community Health, MI

Dr. Cameron has worked in applied public health at the national and state level since 1987 when she joined the U.S. Public Health Service as an EIS Officer. She was stationed at the National Instute for Occupational Health where she served as a Research Epidemiologist responsible for state-based surveillance programs monitoring farm family agricultural injuries and illness; migrant farmworker health; and occupational pesticide poisonings. She joined the Michigan Department of Community Health in 1998 as Manager of the Epidemiology and Surveillance Section of the Division of Environmental Health, where she has directed or managed programs in occupational health surveillance and biomonitoring that included state-based needs assessments and strategic planning. Dr. Cameron is the Principal Investigator for an ASTHO grant awarded in 2009 to the Michigan Dept. of Community Health to conduct strategic planning for the impact of climate change on the Public Health System in Michigan. Michigan was one of five states funded under this program, "Building Capacity for Climate Change and Public Health Programs at State/Territorial Health Agencies". Dr. Cameron is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Michigan State University School of Human Medicine, and is an author on over thirty papers.
