Policy Director, Take Care New York New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, NY
Avital Havusha began working at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in 2008 as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of the Division of Health Care Access and Improvement. In 2010, Ms. Havusha began the role of Policy Director for Take Care New York. In these roles, she has focused on the development of Take Care New York health indicators and target setting.
At Yale University, Ms. Havusha worked as the project manager for a federally-funded research study regarding hospice care practices and ownership status. Previously, she worked for a leading anti-hunger organization in Massachusetts, managing the organization's network of grant-funded emergency food programs throughout state. She also has experience working with low-income individuals and families to help them access public health insurance.
Ms. Havusha received her Master?s degree in Public Health with a concentration in health policy and administration from Yale University and her bachelors degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
