Public health leaders require agility and creativity to protect our communities. Successful leaders understand how to manage power and influence to leverage political, systems, or cultural changes that lead to healthy people and healthy communities. Sponsored by the Public Health Leadership Society, National Public Health Leadership Institute, and National Public Health Leadership Network, this session facilitates discussion on required leadership competencies needed to lead change and shape public health. Leadership from local health departments will share their stories of success and lessons learned, regarding managing power and influence that has led to system changes on addressing health disparities, and advocating for social justice.
