Policy and System Changes - Impacts and Opportunities

Strategies to reduce obesity have shifted from programming and education targeted at individuals, to interventions focused on improving the environments in which people live, work, and play. This session will highlight efforts of the Minneapolis Department of Health and Family Support to improve policies and practices related to physical activity, nutrition, and tobacco use in various settings with special emphasis on initiatives with charter schools and low-income housing properties.
