Taking it to the Streets, Partying with a Purpose: HIV/AIDS Testing in Memphis/Shelby County, TN

As of 2008, of the 5,924 people living with  HIV/AIDS in Shelby County, 83 percent (4,911) are black and 29 percent (1,694) are between the ages of 15 and 34. Sessions participants will learn how to identify root causes to public health issues in their communities and opportunities for the implementation of structural and systematic changes. Participants will also learn mixed methods tools to engage black youth in HIV/AIDS issues. Participants will learn how to administer culturally sensitive HIV/AIDS testing events for at-risk populations.
